Trump’s MAGA for Putin’s Russia
Any empire lives as long as it can expand. Russia is expanding into Ukraine.
Trump and all Americans help with that by playing the role
of Putin's “useful idiots,” whether consciously or not.
Trump and all Americans help with that by playing the role
of Putin's “useful idiots,” whether consciously or not.
Unfortunately, for the last 20-25 years, lies have been triumphantly marching around the world under the guise of an “alternative point of view” (as the Russians call it), and in America, too, with the help of of the First Amendment to the US Constitution.
Nowadays it is practically impossible to distinguish truth from lies in the ocean of so-called "information" and many politicians take advantage of this, easily refuting what is not beneficial to them, or confirming what is beneficial, and not caring at all about any truth. Ordinary people listen to all this without figuring something out and quickly get tired. That is why they choose their favorite person, whom they trust for some reason, and simply support him or her. Mr. Trump became such a politician for 77 million Americans in the last US presidential election.
However, there are some universal criteria for establishing the truth for any event. Usually it’s needed to wait a little. Or, for example, if to talk about the war between two states everything is very simple: war on foreign territory is unjust and always aims to seize the opponent’s territory, no matter how this war is justified by the invader. This is obvious.
There has been a war going on in Ukraine for 3 years now, but many countries still do not recognize Russia's obvious aggression and maintain a neutral position, calling what is happening a "conflict." Some countries even accuse Ukraine of initiating the war that the Russians brought to the Ukrainian territory. This is absurd, but unfortunately it is so. These countries have recently been surprisingly joined by Mr. Trump’s America. Mr. Putin could not have asked for a better gift. Mr. Trump and his courtiers are bringing Russia out of international isolation and, for some reason, beginning to repeat the false narratives of the Kremlin propagandists.
Mr. Putin is clearly manipulating the selfish, emotional and short-sighted Mr. Trump, and through him - all of America. Europe, Canada and other allies are understandably shocked. China is watching everything with the interest and wisely staying out of the mess.
If Mr. Putin planned even half of this in advance, it is already a genius combination.
……….
Trump’s MAGA for Putin’s Russia.
On February 13, 2025, during a briefing with Indian Prime Minister N. Modi, Mr. Trump said, in particular, that Ukraine's NATO ambition caused the Russia-Ukraine war. This is exactly what Mr Putin has been talking about since 2022.
"The Politico” calculated that by the end of February 2025 “… 29 times Donald Trump did what Putin wanted.” The publication asks a logical question: “Whose side is he on?” and offers a “handy guide to America’s new policy of close alignment with the Kremlin.”
Mr. Trump’s appointees discourage US allies with their speeches.
New US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth spoke at NATO Defence Ministers meeting in Brussels on February, 13. He announced that he came “to directly and unambiguously express that stark strategic realities prevent the United States of America from being primarily focused on the security of Europe.”
Mr. Hegseth explained that by “The United States faces consequential threats to our homeland. We must — and we are — focusing on security of our own borders.”
He insisted that NATO will not be involved in any future force that might be required to police the peace in Ukraine. European and other nations will, but the Europeans will have to pay for it. No American troops would take part in such an operation. And Mr. Hegseth warned that NATO will not come to the rescue any European nation involved in that force if it is attacked by Russia.
The new US Vice-President J.D. Vance spoke at the Munich Security Conference on February, 14.
Instead of giving a speech about security (in particular, the war in Ukraine), Mr. Vance informed that «… In Washington, there is a new sheriff in town» and then he scolded European leaders for suppressing free speech, censorship, the decline of democracy, failing to halt illegal migration and running in fear from voters’ true beliefs.
Arguing that the true threat to Europe stemmed not from external actors such as Russia or China, but Europe’s own internal retreat from some of its “most fundamental values”, Mr. Vance repeatedly questioned whether the US and Europe any longer had a shared agenda.
After all of the above, it is not surprising that America behaves, to put it mildly, in a strange way on the highest level. On February 24, the US joined Russia, Belarus, Eritrea, Northern Korea and Burkina Faso to vote against a UN General Assembly resolution, condemning Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Yes, these resolutions of the UN General Assembly do not carry any legal or practical power, they are adopted mainly to clarify the attitude of separate states and the general attitude of the world to some event. However, this was the first case in the history of the UN when the US supported Russia's position and opposed the opinion of France and Great Britain. Even China abstained from this vote.
Some prominent US Republicans have publicly condemned the American version of the UN General Assembly resolution, but no one in the administration or Mr. Trump personally felt ashamed. They are following some plan of their own, but so far they are only strengthening Russia and weakening the positions of the US and its allies.

Steve Witkoff, D. Trump's special envoy to the Middle East and Ukraine: «Why do they (the Russians) need more?»
On March 22, Mr. Witkoff gave a 100% guarantee that Mr. Putin would not attack Europe in his interview with Tucker Carlson and, in addition, explained that Mr. Putin also doesn’t need all of Ukraine:
“TUCKER CARLSON: Do you think the Russians want to march across Europe?
STEVE WITKOFF: 100% not.
TUCKER CARLSON: Why would they want that? I wouldn’t want those countries. Like, why would they.
STEVE WITKOFF: First of all, why would they want to absorb Ukraine? For what purpose, exactly? They don’t need to absorb Ukraine. That would be like occupying Gaza. Why do the Israelis really want to occupy Gaza for the rest of their lives? They don’t. They want stability there they don’t want to deal with. But the Russians also have what they want. They’ve gotten—they’ve reclaimed these five regions. They have Crimea, and they’ve gotten what they want. So why do they need more?”
It is difficult to say what is more in Mr. Witkoff's statements - optimism, blindness, stupidity, naivety or ill will.
……….
V. Surkov: “The Russian world has no borders… We will spread out in all directions, as far as God wills.”
Vladislav Surkov, former First Deputy Chief of the Presidential Administration in Russia, who was often viewed as the main ideologist of the Kremlin, has answered to Mr. Witkoff’s question in his recent interview with French weekly news magazine “L’Express.”
«L’Express: The negotiations in Riyadh on 18 February got off to a good start for the Russians. What outcome could be considered a victory for Moscow ?
V. Surkov: The military or military and diplomatic crushing of Ukraine. The division of this artificial quasi-state into its natural fragments.»
«L’Express: You said : "For Russia, permanent expansion is not just another idea, it is the existential condition of our historical existence". What do you see as Russia's borders ?
V. Surkov: I built an official ideology based on the concept of the 'Russian world', which already existed in philosophical circles. The Russian world has no borders. The Russian world is where there is Russian influence in one form or another: cultural, informational, military, economic, ideological or humanitarian... In other words, it is everywhere. The extent of our influence varies greatly from region to region, but it is never zero. So we will spread out in all directions, as far as God wills and as strong as we are. The important thing is not to get carried away and not to take on too big a piece.»
……….
Putin's "useful idiots".
There are quite a few of them, and they live all over the world. Mr. Putin can afford to pay for their services one way or another. In Europe, the most obvious figure is Hungarian Prime Minister, Mr. Orban, for example. In the US, Mr. Trump and his appointees in government have recently been playing the role of Mr Putin’s “useful idiots” consciously or not, while apparently considering themselves “peacekeepers.” It turns out that even such a noble mission can be turned inside out.
Nate Vance, a former US Marine and cousin of the US Vice President, fought on the side of Ukraine in the current war with the Russians around two years. He said in the interview with «Le Figaro»: “Donald Trump and my cousin clearly believe they can placate Vladimir Putin… They are wrong. The Russians are not about to forget our support for Ukraine. We are Vladimir Putin’s useful idiots.”
It is sad that Nate Vance, and not his cousin sees the situation in Ukraine as it really is. Unfortunately, just Vice President J.D. Vance who shares the worldview of the president Trump will guide the US to a brighter future.
An interesting formula came once to my mind: “Tell me who your president is and I will tell you who you are.”
